NOTICE: Report grade crossing emergencies by calling the Emergency Notification Number (ENS) posted onsite at the grade crossing. Call 911 if the number is missing.
The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Rail Crossing Locator helps users locate highway-rail grade crossings and explore detailed information from the USDOT's grade crossing database(s). With this app, users can:
- Locate crossings by USDOT Crossing ID, address, or by exploring the map
- Access inventory records submitted by states and railroads
- View accident history
- Select from multiple base maps and identify railroad crossings by their characteristics
This app empowers the public (including transportation, emergency response, and community and safety organizations) to participate in the FRA's efforts to improve grade crossing safety and awareness. Please note that the accuracy of the grade crossing physical and operating characteristics within the USDOT inventory records is the responsibility of states and railroads. While the FRA strives to provide accurate information in this app, it is ultimately up to the crossing owners to provide accurate information to the FRA. The FRA assumes no liability for the accuracy of crossing information provided in this app.

- View the official USDOT collision record with accident/collision history for specific crossings
- Get directions to a grade crossing
- Call the Emergency Notification System (ENS) number to report a crossing emergency
- Provide the FRA with information about specific crossings
